A body manifest through spiritual powers. One of the three bodies (sanshen 三身) of the Buddha. The transformation of the Buddha's own body into the form of a sentient being in order to teach and save them. Also translated as yingshen 應身 "response body." (2) When transformation body and response body are distinguished, the response body is considered to be manifest for those at a high level of practice, while the transformation body is manifest for those at a low level of practice, and for non-humans.
